“Permaculture gives us a toolkit for moving from a culture of fear and scarcity to one of love and abundance.” - Toby Hemenway
Who was St. John Chrysostom?
St. John Chrysostom was a great father of the Church and preacher. Chrysostom literally means, "silver tongued." Incidentally, St. John Chrysostom was also a great advocate for children:
"With us everything should be secondary compared to our concern with children, and their upbringing in the instruction and teaching of the Lord."
–Saint John Chrysostom (347-407)
"We are so concerned with our children’s schooling and worldly success, if only we were equally zealous in bringing them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. This then, is our task: to educate both ourselves and our children in godliness, otherwise what answer will we have before Christ’s judgement seat?"
–Saint John Chrysostom (347-407)
ABOUT US
We're a more or less random collection of individuals who are united by one thing: We know and care for a particular Christian orphanage in Uganda.
We ourselves come from many different church backgrounds or perhaps some of us are not Christians. It's just about the children--these are kids that would otherwise be on the street, starving, or perhaps being abused or killed without our help.
Many child sponsorship programs exist, but this can be more than that. It's a community of people looking for hope, united by a mission, seeking for direction, seeking life, joy, God.
Through social media (including private groups on Facebook) the lives of these children are brought into our daily awareness by their caretakers, the orphanage director, Jagwe Moses, and church leaders including Lunagula Stephen.
Accountability is accomplished through orphanage visits, the sending of receipts, and most importantly, our common faith in Jesus Christ and our prayer for one another.
The director of 1Savior.org receives money through PayPal and sends it through Western Union. 100% of donated money goes toward specific needs, of which you will be notified.
To begin receiving our newsletter or to find out about a child to support, send an email to one_savior@yahoo.com.
It's all about a network of relationships stretching across continents, learning to listen to one another and to God, praying for one another, and giving to those with the greatest need: the children.
May you be blessed in Jesus Christ,
