“Permaculture gives us a toolkit for moving from a culture of fear and scarcity to one of love and abundance.” - Toby Hemenway
GET INVOLVED
PRAY FOR US
By far the most important thing you can do is to keep the children in your thoughts and prayers. And this is not to minimize the urgent financial needs, but our greatest need is for the blessing of the Holy Spirit, so that our work will not be in vain and that all of us may enter the Kingdom of God.
DONATE TUITION
Schooling is an essential component of the children's lives at the orphanage home, helping to focus their energies and maintain good behavior. The children MUST learn English to simply survive in a quickly developing Uganda, where peasants are losing their land to cash croppers. Also, the government will shut down the orphanage if the children are not in school, sending the children back to the streets or to situations where they are vulnerable to abuse.
DONATE FOOD
Uganda is a gardening paradise, but the orphanage director has access to just two or three small tracts of land to grow food, which is only enough to partially support himself and sometimes supplement the children's diet. Regular gifts for ground corn, rice, and beans are needed.
DONATE BUILDINGS
Once the orphanage has it's own land in the right place, they need buildings. In Uganda, buildings can be made very cheap. Mud bricks are made from soil gathered by termites into large mounds that dot the landscape. Sand and cement are also not expensive, but nevertheless these items need to be purchased.
MEDICAL EXPENSES
A child falls out of a tree and breaks a leg and the cost to fix it is equivalent to a whole month of food for the orphanage. Jagwe Moses is bitten by a Black Mamba while collecting firewood. The children get chiggers in their feet. Please donate when disaster strikes and for more more routine medical expenses.
SPONSOR CHILDREN
Regular monthly donors who sponsor a particular child can bless them through not only their support, but through their prayer and advocacy. Sponsors are encouraged to message the orphanage leaders Jagwe Moses and David Baisi to check on their children every month or two. Currently we are asking $30 per month to sponsor a child, though the actual operating costs of the orphanage are higher.
